Parabens

Is it worth seeking out paraben-free personal lubricant? First, intimacy is maximized by comfort, so even if you feel that anxiety about parabens is going to distract you—even if you ultimately decide that anxiety is unfounded—it might be worth seeking out something paraben-free just so you can relax. The flip side is, though, if your favorite lubricant contains parabens, you may want to consider the comfort you will be sacrificing if you decide to switch lubricants.
Parabens are basically preservatives for lubricants and lubricant-like products. Not only have Parabens never been proven harmful, but some studies actually seem to have proven them to be conclusively safe. However, recently there has been speculation in the scientific community and elsewhere that Parabens may be a contributing cause of breast cancer. However, this worry is purely speculative at this point and the verdict from hard, tested science is still that parabens are safe. Because lubricants actually enter the body, though, it is certainly understandable that people should be concerned. And yet, by the same token, one would also tend to hesitate about putting something inside one’s body that did not contain a time-tested preservative.
