The Glycerine Debate

Glycerine is or a kind of sugar that is found in many personal lubricants. It helps to keep things moist (obviously a key feature for personal lubricant). Personal Lubricants advertising themselves as Glycerine free often intimate that Glycerine can lead to yeast infections. The reasoning here is that Glycerine—being a sugar—serves as food for the yeast. However, an interesting argument is made here that while Glycerine exacerbates yeast infections, it doesn’t actually cause them.
